$20M in Grants to Address PFAS Damage in Twin Cities

The state of Minnesota has announced a $20 million grant initiative aimed at addressing the environmental damage caused by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the waterways of the Twin Cities. This funding will be allocated to various projects designed to mitigate the impact of PFAS contamination, which has raised significant public health concerns.

PFAS, often referred to as ‘forever chemicals,’ are synthetic substances that do not break down easily in the environment and have been linked to numerous health issues, including cancer and liver damage. The grants will support efforts to identify, clean up, and prevent further contamination of water sources affected by these harmful chemicals.

Local governments, non-profits, and other organizations will be eligible to apply for these funds to implement projects that enhance water quality and safeguard public health. The initiative underscores the state’s commitment to addressing environmental issues and protecting its natural resources.
