Sunlight-Activated Carbon Nanotubes for Dye Removal

This study investigates the use of sunlight-activated carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for the removal of anionic dyes from wastewater. The research emphasizes the characterization of CNTs, their efficiency in dye removal, and their potential biological effects against various pathogenic bacteria relevant to aquaculture and human health.

The study outlines the synthesis of CNTs and their activation process using sunlight, which enhances their adsorption capacity for anionic dyes. Results indicate that these CNTs exhibit significant efficiency in removing dyes from aqueous solutions, making them a promising solution for wastewater treatment.

Furthermore, the biological assessment reveals that the CNTs do not adversely affect beneficial aquaculture bacteria while effectively inhibiting the growth of harmful pathogenic bacteria. This dual functionality highlights the potential of sunlight-activated CNTs as a sustainable and effective method for both dye removal and maintaining microbial balance in aquatic environments.
